hey im getting gray hairs..
i just got my gtx 260 and when i run cs:s..i start from like fps 10..then the next second goes to like fps 190, and then the next second drops to like 10..this is very irritating, get me mad.
i kno is ridiculous that the game lags with a gtx 260, and i know there is a simple answer out there, but i dont know it
if any one out there can give me some advices on how to fix the fps deal, thx a lot.
here are my system specs:
CPU: amd 3.0ghz athlon 64x2 6000+
GPU: gtx 260
PSU: 650w
HDD: 250g sata/7200 rpm barracuda
MB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131281
RAM: 4ghz G.skillz
MONITOR: 22" HDMI ASUS/1680x1050pixels/59hz
what do you get fps on test ?
very very low like 10s then skips to tops 70s, then down to 10s
and even the 3dmarkscore is like 1000 overall
what aa and af etc are you using?
what overall fps on test video at start screen
what speed broadband
how do you check the aa and af??
all i know is the settings are in low and medium, and hdr is full, and im running it with directx9
the speed broadband:
dsl 2m i think or dsl 768k not tht sure but i never had this problem with my old system and it had a radeon 9250, sucky
options video advanced
Sounds software related. Have you used the latest drivers? Try the newest and an older one
you are talking about counter strike?
yea fergie
which drivers are you using
177.26
TRY 178.24
i just download it, and still the same problem ugh
180.xx betas are out , they work just as good as the whql drivers
is it just cs
If your 3dmark 06 score is 1000, you have a serious problem.
re install your gpu, make sure it is flush with the motherboard.
also instal GPU-z and tell us whats the PCI-e bandwidth is
have you installed the drivers for your motherboard?
flashed the bios to the newest version?
made sure there was no thermal throttling of the cpu?
using the correct output setting (opengl vs directx vs software)?
cl_cmdrate / cl_updaterate @ 100, rate 20000, cl_rate 9999?
amd cpu drivers?
try all of those, come back with answers so we can help you better.
you say you just got the gtx 260, what graphics card did you have in that system before the 260? when you say you had a 9250 in your old system do you mean that was the previous card? if so, you have to make sure you completely removed the drivers for the old card, then remove the old card, install the new card, then install the new drivers.
9250............ which slot are you incerting this card into. as the 9250 is a pci card.
make sure its the slot closest to the cpu.
i knoo roadrunner, the 3dmark test was awful, slooow, omg i dont know whats holding back my system
asymetriccircle this a brand new system, custom, i just build it like a month ago, the 9250 was on another computer which still has it but i dont use it.
alrite macer ill do that and let you know by tomorrow because right now i cant,
and anti acid ill put those commands in and give you answers
What brand is your PSU? If it aint namebrand, it brobably isn't providind the power you need.
my cpu temp is high too, i got a zalman cooling fan 92mm, i just added artic 5 and the temp wont go down, is still around top 40s
should i add more artic??
you guys think i should overclock my cpu when the temp goes down and see if tht helps..??
or maybe is the graphic card bad, but i dont think so cause the in "evga precision tool" shows everything alright, this is very frustruating
roadrunner is an xclio psu 650w
I would get the PSU tested to see if its putting out the rated power.
how you test it?? i know it something in BIOS right?
Use a psu tester or take it to a shop.
roadrunner i was thinking and dont you think the motherboard could be affecting my system performerance???
Not really. All I can think that is wrong is PSU or ram, if your ram is running over 800.
Is your card running @ 16x or 1x, check it with GPU-z
okay the dram frequency is at 375.0 mhz/ 5.5.5.15
my card's bus interface is at pci-e x16 @ x16, and the bandwidth is 114.9 gb/s
This seriously is a software issue. What OS are you running?

Virus and adware scan please.
im runnin window xp, sp 2 32 bit
alright ill scan it and if that doesnt helps ill re install os
u checked everything inside ur pc? both power connectors connected to the video card? You dont know how many people forget to connect both ><
People, FOCUS!
He's getting 1000 in 3d mark 06 with a 260.
Either:
Windows/DX is messed up
The PSU isn't putting out the juice
The card is faulty
One of these three.
