Given the chance to buy either of these CPU's for about the same price (~$300). Which would you go for? And why? Q9550 = 45nm/12MB L2 cache/2.83GHz/133MHz fsb and QX6850 = 65nm/8MB L2 cache/3.00GHz/1333MHz fsb

I know the QX6850 is the best "deal" ... but what's the big advantage that makes it $600 or $700 more than the Q9550?

it has an x in the name and is released first when they start putting new products into the market so it has a huge profit margin, other than that it has an unlocked multiplier and runs hotter

Yep. Stick with the newer CPU.

The QX6850 has better OC capabilities. But the 9550 can make you breakfast in bed, which is what counts.

So ... which MB will do the best job with pancakes ... considering going this route 'cuz they're a LOT cheaper than the Intel chips.
