C2Q vs Q2D

this is going to be my first build and i had originally picked out the q6600 but after looking around i didn't know if i really needed a quad core processor. i'm not really an avid gamer, just an average guy who is going to build his first computer. i also had in mind the e8400. is the quad core better for me to have now so i dont have to upgrade in the future or should i save $15 and go with the C2D.

If you do any video editing, heavy photoshop, or lots of encoding I'd say go with a quad.

If this is mostly just internet, office, and the occasional game - then go with the duo.

If you're a relatively light user, an E5200 should be plenty of power, for a considerable savings.

+1 for bc4, quad is better off with video editing, encoding, etc. If budget isn't to much of a concern, i would go with the i7.
