I currently have a 8800GT and I want to upgrade to a card that supports audio through DVI for my HTPC needs.
I was about to choose between two 9800GT cards when Maziar (Thanks!) suggested the HD4850 as an alternative. Now in most reviews I read, the HD4850 is a very good performer(often compared to the 9800GTX ) and has it's own 7.1 audio decoder which is awesome.
They have an offer on my local store and the HD4850 is even €10 cheaper than the 9800GT.
So shall I assume that the HD4850 is superior compared to the 9800GT?
If my noob assumptions are correct, I am so ordering the HD4850 right now, I just need some expert opinions.
The "ripped off" remark isnt going to fly. Unless he payed over 200 euro's for it. And no store/shop is going to stay in business if they are charging DOUBLE street value/selling price.

Spath you're jumping to conclusions also. We really don't know if he did or did not get ripped off until the OP tells us exactly what the prices were for both cards.
Note
I could get the 9800GT cheaper for like 140.74 EUR (112.535 GBP) but that was on a store in Germany that ships to Sweden and the difference isn't that big.

Oh I see. You've been comparing a factory overclocked 9800gt with expensive dual slot quad heatpipe aftermarket cooler to a stock 4850 with stock single slot cooler. The stock 9800gt on that site has about the same price ratio to stock 4850 as here in the US.

Bottom like is if you have a 88gt stay away from the 98gt as they are exactly the same just a rename from nvidia trying to stretch the life of their g92 core. Hd 4850 blows them both into bits welcome to Ati where the drivers are coming out monthly .

hahahah thanks, laughed so hard at this. It is true hardware without good software support turns out simply crap.
I hope ATI has quality drivers for this card.
