ok, so when i built my system all i knew about memory was that the more in it and the higher speed the better. i never thought about the CAS. so i have a 1GB kingston with a CAS of 5 and a 2GB kingston witch CAS of 6.

so, in my bios (GF800A2 ECS board v1) i can ajust memory timings. so can i change the CAS to 3 or 2and how would i go about that.

also, would this help my overclocking problem, i cant OC my AMD 5000 past 2.8ghz. both RAM sticks are at 800mhz. thanks

Decreasing the CAS latency from 6 to 2 or 3 will definitely lead to lots of memory errors (assuming that your ECS motherboard would let you do that). The system most likely won't even POST.

Did you select that motherboard for it's overclocking ability?

i never though i would over clock but since im at 2.8 and i saw an improvment i want 3.0 but i dont need it. i always see this stuff about CAS latency needs to be as low as you can get it. and ya, it didnt post so i guess ill stay at its rated level
