I recently got a new cpu and mobo for a friend, the Phenom II x2 550. I want to try unlocking the other cores, but i dont want to try unlocking until i get a new cooler. im looking at one around 50$, and to be compatible with 1366 also, so i can reuse it if he decides to upgrade. any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here is a link to a very good web site with a lot of useful information about third party cpu heatsinks:

http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm

You can use the embedded search engine to find more information about socket specific heatsinks.

the case is a generic one. its crap. the mobo is the gigabyte ga-ma785gmt ud2h. But the coltage control on the bios is really bad though.

Well make sure you measure the width of the case before you go buy a cooler. You do not want to install a cooler and later find out that the side panel won't close....
