Hey, my family PC is nearly 6 years old now so I'm thinking of building a new one. My mom gets pissed when the damn thing freezes and the most graphically intense game my brother can play is Warcraft 3 TFT. Im just not sure if the PSU I'm looking at will be able to handle it. I don't plan to OC.
Here's the build thus far:

E5200 $85
EP35 DS3L $85
A-DATA DDR2 800 (2x1gb) $35
Seagate 7200.10 250gb $60
3850 512mb $0 (giving mine for free, getting a 4850 :P )

Here's the Case PSU combo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811129032
For $80 its a sweet deal but I'm not sure the 380 will be enough.

The Cheaper the better (F***ing Stock market)
Thanks for any help.

380W might be a real gamble here. Take a look at Antec Sonata 3, the PSU is an EarthWatt so very good quality so is the case.

Some good combo deals right now with this power supply and coolermaster cases. Coolermaster 500w Extreme power plus
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6817171031 from $70 up for both.

I actually have the Sonata 3, so I'd like a different case. The Earthwatts 500 is $90 on newegg which is a bit much considering I want to get the PSU and Case for ~$100.

^Good find on the eXtreme Power Plus, I'll get that and a CM centurion 5, thats $100 for PSU and Case, exactly what I wanted.

thanks for all the help.

380w antec was $29.95 at newegg, if they aren't sold out.

its close but i think it should be able to handle it

here's an article on 3850 power draws

looks like the 380 should be fine :)

With prices changing and the US economy essencially crashing, I'll wait a bit and see whats available. Good to know the 380 could technically handle it if I'm in a tight spot $$$ wise.

Thanks for all the help!

The 380EA will be fine.

A Quick look at Total Power Usage in a 4850 System.

Your PSU could handle a 50% increase over that.
And the 380w is rated for 380w SUSTAINED.
It can handle even higher peaks.

Also, Grab the ANTEC 300 for $40 shipped instead from NewEgg.
The 380w can be had for $30 shipped right now.

Saves you $10 or more and you get a better case.

its not good theory.

The 3850 requires one pci 6 pin connector, which the antec 380 PSU has. Antec is a quality unit which should be able to deliver what it advertises.

zenmaster has a good point in the Antec 300, but I see it at $54.95 shipped. Still, when you include shipping costs, the 300 and separate psu is a better deal.
