Hello,

I had a xp install on an IDE drive that had HDD failure. I replaced the IDE with a Sata drive. As I go load xp from disc, I get a BSD as the install is going through it's initial driver loading, about a minute into the install but before any user prompts. The MB is a Biostar mcp6p m2. Any ideas? It's a new HDD but it appeared to be clicking. Bad HDD out of the box?? What are your thoughts?

XP is an operating system older than 10 years - it doesn't work with new hardware out of the box.

Go in your BIOS, look for the SATA controller transfer mode, and set it to emulate IDE instead of "AHCI" or "SATA" option. That should let XP work with it.

BSD is an advanced operating system, you mean BSOD; something Windows likes very much. :D
