before we carry on i have a few questions
1. what is your budget?
2. what will the pc be used for?
3. are you planning on overclocking?
4. what os are you planning to get
great questoins. 1. $10 a week/very low /Less than $300
2. baseline/ it is going to replace my PII 400mzh with 396mg ram
3. no/ overclocking is a long way off.
4. I am still sold on XP
The hardest thing I do with my computer is burn DVD's
ok, well for that amount of money and what you are going to use if for i would go for a pre-build, I just brought a new pc of ebay, and i got anlot for my money because it was second hand.
If you whee going to build for $300 i would go 4 something like this,
Thank for your input. I have a old case, three hard drives, Dvd burner, modem, mouse, key board, moniter, ect. The new parts are the motherboard(mobo), cpu, ram, power supply, & XP OS
mobo = Asus P5N EM HDMI ($80), CPU = E2220 or E2200($90 or $70),
ram = (less than $25), power supply = (less than $17) @ priceline.com
One of my hard drives is 12gb ide, do not know if I will use it. One Hard Drives is 18gb ide plan to use it. One is a used 500gb sata 300 plan to use it for storage. XP is going to cost about ($80) THe motherboard has one ide & 4 sata ports. I almost forgot I will need a case fan too.($3)
PSU: Antec earthwatts EA430 430W ATX12V
