hmm, almost sounds like a HW assignment, you should consult google and wikipedia.

Posting this since I doubt many people would actually reply to this, since from what I've seen most people generally want to help with system building here. (and no I have no idea if the info is accurate)

the first 2 are intel, and there was a 965 and several others in between.

the last 2 are nvidias.

wiki sound like a decent idea. you could also look at intel and nvidia's sites too.

If you are looking for on board graphics for your next computer, consider AMD. they have better OBG in general, and better bang for the buck on the low end (I cant think of why you would care about OBG if you weren't building a low end system). If you want an Intel with top of the line onboard graphics, I think the g45 is your best bet. I'm not sure what nvidia is doing for intel (the 8200 for AMD is very close to the 780G), but nVidia has had problems making chipsets lately

On the right track for what?

Are you making a time line?
Building a new system?
Wanting to know which is better?
Something else??

Clarify what you are asking and you may receive a meaningful response.

If you are building a new system, all of the above are "so yesterday".
That is not to say it may not be enough for your needs.
If you are building your system for Ms Word, music and surfing the net, any of the above IGP's will be more than enough.
If you are planing on using any 3d capabilities, gaming or otherwise, they are all terrible choices.

I would recommend looking into an AMD 780G based Mb as it has the best IGP to date.
Not far behind is nVidia's chipsets with the integrated 8200 and bringing up the rear would be Intel's G45 chipset.

I am too old for gaming, but my son is not (he is 6). So it may be some time before gaming is an issue. But I can always build a gamer latter.

you could also always just grab a $30 or $40 graphics card which will produce much better graphics than an integrated graphics, even for just average use

spend another $40 to 50 and there is even a bigger jump.

stick with OBG, when it isn't enough, then spend $100+ and get a real graphics card.

most people buy graphics cards when they cant play a new game. the number of games that are playable with a 2600xt that aren't with a 780g is very small.
