What are shared dlls

What do I do when I get this dll message? I don't know what it is.

Shared .dlls are .dll files that are used by several programs, usually living in the C:\Windows\System32 directory. What you do with the message depends on why it's coming up.

If you have some sort of issue, posting what the issue is, when it happens, the exact error meassage, when it comes up, and so on will help more than just asking what a shared dll is.
