Hi, well last morning i got worry cause when i woke up my CPU was in 71C but i had my Ac on and my rom was probably around 15c - 20c so there no way it was hot for that... so i shut it down an apply the themal paste i had on the Zalman 9700NT box and set it again ... this time the temp is around 50-53... the lowest i saw was 45c with Ac on full load and i wasnt using the PC so (basicaly my room was a freezer xD!)... so am out of ideas... i was gonna OC it but theres no way am gonna do it with those temps.. so any ideas?

the only option is you have seated it incorrectly. Does your cooler have push-pins? If so make sure they are pushed in hard.

If they screw in, make sure they are tight.

When you pulled the HS off the first time, was the thermal paste spread across the entire cpu?

if you running orthos at 3.6ghz and 100% with a poor case then 71c is possible with the over rated zalaman but unlikely

on a non oc system at 71c your cpu cooling is:

1) not touching the cpu at all

2) barely touching

remove the hsf and check the thermal compound is it on both surfaces? no!

why not? did not screw it down right?
or did you add to lttile?

remove and add new and more cpu compoound: spread it evenly and then add more in the center and spread to a penny shapte so it is a mound in the middle

The old bb size TC instructions are wrong for newwe dished hsf

at 3.6ghz at 1.45-1.48v at full load you should have 65-70c with the 9700 at slightly lower then stock speed - i think its 2700rmp stock and 2200 where is sounds right

at stock speed and voltage i expect 37-45c at idle and 55c at load

I have Zalman 9700 with a modded fan 92mm scythe fan. And as you can see in the pictures there noreal problem with temps. I do not run Zalman 100% only if I go over 3.8Ghz with 1.52V. I do use AS 5 as thermal paste.

I hope this helps. There might be something wrong with your CPU or motherboard.
