ATA vs SATA

Greetings. If I buy a computer that uses SATA and I have a new ATA drive that I would like to add, what will I need to have? Are there adaptors?

There are adapters here and here. You could also choose a motherboard that has an IDE interface - many new motherboards come with a JMicron controller and the IDE interface for 2 devices, in addition to their SATA HDD connections. I would not recommend mixing an HDD with a CD/DVD writer on that controller, though.

New ATA drives are becoming scarce. If you have a choice, it would probably be better to use a SATA drive since it's more future-proof.
