Hi all, i have the asus P6T, 6GB Hyperx Kingston DDR3 RAM, GTX 295, and 1050w power supply and of course the i7 920 processor. I am just wondering what the perfect settings would be (in BIOS) to overclock my core to 3.0 and 3.2GHz. I am very new to overclocking and i would appreciate alot help =) thankyou.

just raise the blck to 150 for 3.0 and 160 for shouldn't have to touch anything else. It should be able to it on stock voltage.

okay thanks. do i need to raise dedicated RAM levels and voltage levels??

you can manually set the ram timings and speed if you want, but for that small of a clock it probably won't make much of difference. You can increase the ram voltage to 1.64 if you are having stability issues or if you set the speed/timings manually, but otherwise I would leave it undervolted at 1.5.

At stick your memory will run at 133.33 x 8 or 1066 and your CPU will run at 2.66 (2.8 w/ Turbo)

Changing the BCLK friom 133 to 150 will:

150 x 8 = 1200 Memory Frequency
150 x 20 = 3.0 GHz CPU (3.15 w/ turbo)

166.66x 8 = 1333 Memory Frequency
16.66 x 20 = 3.33 GHz CPU (3.50 w/ turbo)

1. I would change BCLK to 150....or 167 and leave everything else on auto....check everything for stability.

2. Then drop down the CPU voltage an increment or 2 at a time till ya reach instability ....then up 1 or 2 notches and leave it there. 1.125 is where mine's out (3.7GHz - 365/7 profile) .... 1.3 volts w/ (4.2 Ghz -gaming profile.)

3. "Rinse and repeat" Step 2 w/ the DRAM voltage .... 1.5625 is where mine's at

okay. so i heard the i7 has turbo so will i have to turn that off? if so how?
thanks.....oh and also i forgot to add: how do i check the stability.

i just successfully overclocked my cpu to 3.0 ghz
boost is running atm and its at 3150 ghz @ around 47 degrees on system idol but remember i have stock cooling. yet to stress test it.

stress test completed. ran for about 1hr using prime 95. ran between 68 - 75 degrees on 3150mhz with stock cooling. Thanks guys you are all champs (Y). 5 star effort =)
