worried about power supply

hello its me again, you may remember me as the guy who bought a geforce 9800 gx2 video card, a intel msi p45 motherboad, a core 2 duo E8500 and 2gb of ram.

I also bought a case and a 650w power supply, but now im reading that the gx2 video card uses up 400 watts at peak load! Will my 650w power supply be enough to power my whole system or did i make a mistake ordering it?

Your power supply is plenty. If you have an SLI motherboard and are thinking about going with two of those cards then it wont be enough.

What brand power supply is that btw? If its a good psu then its plenty. If its a cheap one then it might not be...

The 9800GX2 uses 182w at load. What you heard was wrong, but it might have been the complete system load. Any quality 650w power supply is just fine. You can also run

to check your system power requirements.

thanks for the reassurance guys. i believe i got my power supply in a combo deal when i bought my antec 300 case from newegg. IIRC its the Antec 650w power supply.

That power supply is plenty for one of your cards but not two...

IIRC it's the Antec True power Trio 650w. It has 52A on the combined 12v rails, so you should be just fine (assuming I have the correct one).
