Recently purchased a MSI P965neo-F V2, set it up and everything works just fine. With the exception of, in the device mangler, Windows XP home, it will show a exclamation point in yellow... I know this is just a warning...
The device is the Intel (R) ICH8 Family PCI Express root Port 1 - 283F
When I click on this it will say..
"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
The only thing I have on PCI Express is the video card, and that seems to be working just fine.
So whats the scoop? Do I just ignore it, or is there something I can do to the thing to make it work properly?
Yes, I downloaded several utilities from Intel saying that the replace the INF files , Intel chipset Identification utility, so forth.. I shall delve into it more here and see what I can come up with but I think I have exhausted the resource at Intel.
Ok , Yes, it looks like I have done this already. I downloaded
.INF Update Utility - Primarily for IntelĀ® 4, 3, 900... SIGH* Well, its time to get serious about this. I understand what the combination 965/ICH8 does, in the old days we used to call it a "Handler" - a device that sorts out all of the I/O stuff. Granted a pretty laymen description of it.
Ok I have been inside and out of Intel, the next step would be to Visit MSI's website I know for a fact I have the latest BIOS on the system AMI BIOS A7235IMS V3.8 11/2007 Will ask around on there and see if there are any additional fixes and contact tech support and interface with them.
