Computer not responding to black widow hard drive docking station

hp pavillion stopped working. The geek squad said possible mother board. Bought black widow to recover the hard drive. my computer wont recognize the black widow hook up. Coulds it be my hard drive that is in the docking station is fried or is it the problem with my set up of the dsocking station?
