Ok i have a choice of graphics cards, what would you go for?
NVidia 9800GTX $210
Radeon HD4850 $220
Nvidia 9600GT$160
Radeon HD3650 $130
I'm currently using a 8500GT sonic and while it worked will for crysis it isn;t working too good for crysis:warhead or farcry 2 so before i play these games i really need an upgrade. What would you go for? Heard so much about the HD4850 but a lot of the reviews take into account the price difference between the nvidia cards, which isn't much here (don't ask, i can;t get them cheaper :( )
Thx guys

Are you in australia?

Anyway, of the bunch, the 3650 is a wast of money.
I would go for any of the others. What kind of monitor do you have?

Ignore the 3650, and 9600 as they are both pretty much useless/outdated. In the end it's your choice (I'm biased to nVidia personnaly).

Is that a 9800GTX or a 9800GTX+? A 9800GTX+ would be almost as good as the HD 4850. The older 9800GTX is less good.

It would be a plain 9800gtx.
monitor i'm using is LG19"WS(LCD) Crysis looked syeed at 1440x900 but i can't get warhead or farcry2 looking nearly as nice :(

Well then I'm voting for the HD 4850, at those prices.

You need a 450W PSU or larger, by the way.

Another vote for the 4850.

Those prices are a bit high. Obviously no newegg for you :(

I've found a ECS N9600GT-512MX-P for $135, and the HD4850 is actually $229 :( do you think the 4850 is worth an extra $95 over the 9600GT? what % performance increase is it?

Also a IGABYTE GV-NX96T512H (rev.3.0) (NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT, 512MB GDDR3, 256 bit) for $147 ($80 difference)

ok, i went for the HD4850. hopefully i won;t regret it. ($225)
Also saw the 9800GT for just $120 and they had a 4870 in the display case for $240, but i didn't see that till after i bought the 4850 :( it wasn't in the catalogue

Can you pay the extra $15 and get the 4870? They must have some return policy. Ask them, you've got nothing to lose. Where I live, the biggest brick-and-mortar shops allow returns of video cards for 14 days, full refund.
