Im soon to upgrade my old 8800 gtx oc 320 been a good card but time to throw it out,

im looking at the 4870, 9800 gt 1gb 9800gtx+ for my next one , the gtx 260 is simply to much at the place i get my cards 450 bucks lol rip off.

the prices r
4870 = 380
9800gt 1gb =239
9800 gtx+=285
then theres the OVERPRICES 260gtx at 450

i got a 550 wat psu so that covers all those cards fine power wise just wanting to no based on the price and performance which of those car dnot inculding 260 would be the best choice for an upgrade

wait, dont throw it out, i'll take it off your hands... seriously...

But on another note, the 4870 will serve you best... you dont have to worry about bottlenecking because your CPU is a solid one. The difference between the 4870 and the 8800 GTX will be huge, you'll be astonished... In fact, the 4870 is better than the GTX 260 in most benchmarks/tests, just thought that would help you make a decision...

Yes a HD4870 will be the best card same performance as a 260gtx and 70 cheaper

And consider the 1Gb 4870 over the 512 Mb if the prices are similar (as they are in the UK) if you`re playing at a resolution of or over 16x10.

well yeay i was kind of swaying towards the 4870 or 9800gtx+ the gtx+ is about 95 dollars cheaper but im not shure how it compares to a 4870, i was gonna try to go for a 1gb + in ram but the place i get my stuff from dont have the 1gb 4870 and im shure it will be atleast 70-90 dollars more expansive based pon there pricing , but i dont want ot get the 9800 gt 1gb maybe ye more ram higher resolutions but the performance would be far less , i dont ned to run games at max resolutions i usually run 1280x1024 on high settings maybe with 2xa on so i was taking that into accound when i get a knew card trying to get the right one for the settings i use when im gaming,

on another note i recenlty had to underlock my q6660 back to stock 2.4 cause of over heating issues that would be enough to run any of thsoe cards without bottlenecking?>

i was leaning towards toe 9800 gtx+ cause i want to be able to mildly future proof next car di get i want to keep for a while, tho it seems the 4870 would be the better choice so i may wait for it to drop another 30 bucks or so kind of strapped for cash atm,

o ye man it isnt a 8800gtx it i s a 8800 gts oc 320 and shure when i upgrade i lll send it your way if u want .... for like 20bucks or something lol xD

Hmmm... what kind of cooling issues are u having on that Q6600? is it because you're using the stock fan/heatsink? I have an Extra fan/heatsink if you need it, i'll put the link of what i have below, it actually kept an old Pentium 4 630 (Prescott) to 28 degrees idle and 38 degrees load, so it works great... i never tried it on my E8400, but i imagine it would have held it at least 10 degrees cooler both idle and load... let me know if you want it... and i'll definately take the 8800 GTS 320 it would be a nice little surprise for my little brother... send me an email @ jonpaul37@cox.net

Ps. the stock (2.4) Q6600 speeds will not bottleneck the 4870, but it will be slower, not severely, if you OC the Q6600 to at least 3.0, you will gain 10 FPS in games on average...

Bottleneck is the wrong word. It will run slower with slower cpu, but far from an actual bottleneck.

You should, however, be able to overclock it to 3ghz, even with stock cooler.

+1 for the 4870, it seems nvidia has forgot to lower the gtx260 prices in the rest of the world.
