Hello,
I installed a Ntegear wireless router; included in the package was a notice that it is indeed compatible with Windows XP (apparently there had been problems before). Over the course of several weeks, my PC has had multiple problems and at this point, windows will not even boot up - I get a gray screen with the Dell inspiron insignia and nothing else. I had just had a computer technician "fix" by other problems and then this happened. Could it be the wireless connection? or what is it? Thanks.

Since this issue started after someone looked at the PC, you should check with them what they did. Or did the computer work fine for a while and this happed recently in relation? Is this a laptop or a desktop? I think Dell Inspirons come in both laptop and desktop forms.

If you only get the initial startup screen, it can mean a BIOS, motherboard, RAM or hard drive issue. See if you can get into the BIOS setup, and check if the computer detects the hard drive. You can try to reseat the hard drive also. If you can't even get into the BIOS, you can try to reset it, but that involves open the case and removing the BIOS battery for a bit, then reseating it and booting up again.

The router would have nothing to do with your PC not booting up to Windows, there is something wrong with the computer hardware. It would be like blaming your car not starting on a new garage door.
