I am researching Hard Drives. I want to create a RAID with 2 or 3 Hard drives. I am looking for the best performance coupled with a backup if possible

RAID is no backup - how exactly did you have this in your mind?

Also, you do not say what OS and what you will be using the RAID for. I'm assuming you're talking about RAID0?

I know RAID is not a backup. I'm not too concerned with backups at this point. I am using Windows XP and I want to create the RAID 0 for performance with games like Call of Duty 2. My question was what maker of the Hard Drives (Seagate, Hitachi, WD along with which model) is the best one without costing too much. I am reading the WD's current models are not that good in RAIDs because of their firmware turns something off and they time out or something. You have to get their RAID versions with cost more. However, RAID 10 is supposed to be the best of both worlds Speed and backup. Frank
