I recently received a Dell XPS 420 Desktop, Windows Vista with the Radeon HD 3870 graphics card, and though I haven't run into any fatal problems, some things irk me.
I checked on DXdiag, Device Manager, G-PUZ, and from Canyourunit.com's tests, and all signs pointed to good graphic card, not latest display driver. It all listed me as having the HD 3870 at this time.
I downloaded the Option 1 Software suite that comes with the display driver. I installed it and halfway through the installation it errored and force-closed the Installation, but some things must've been installed because it asked me to reboot my computer.
After rebooting, I downloaded the Option 2 independent display driver and installed that perfectly. Now my 2 problems are.
1. Device manager and Canyourunnit still says my Graphics Driver isn't up to date. - (My major problem.)
2. Device Manager, DXdiag, and everything else instead of listing my gfx card as 3870 it just says "Radeon 3800 Series" - Is this normal? Should I be worried about it?
Im willing to provide any and all info that would help in the matter.
