I've got XP SP2 up and running on my new build, and my SATA drive is working. Do I use the Gigabyte CD to install Gigabyte's SATA driver, or should I leave well enough alone?

Assuming that it's a new motherboard, you don't need Gigabyte drivers if you're not using the purple ports.

Note for future - when installing any OS, load all drivers at install; you don't HAVE to use RAID or AHCI once they're in, but it leaves your options open; installing them later is a painful procedure...
