I have a Gigabyte EP45-DS3L board. I see Creative makea a SoundBlaster PCI Express Extreme Audio card, and the
Sb X-fi Xtreme Audio E/f PCI card. Which way is the best to go? Thanks Dave.

I imagine you want the very best sound for gaming correct? I was going to spend 80 dollars on a turtle beach card but picked up a 20 dollar 8 channel card from fry's and it sounds better then my old expensive turtle beach. Its all up to you for how much you want to spend.

I would like the best for gaming & music both. I have Logitech Z-2300 THX Certified 2.1 speakers. I do not need 7.1 or anything like that, but I want to buy the best card. PCI or PCIe what is best? I have a 5 year old ASUS P4PE with a sound blaster live now, and just want to upgrade to the best stuff. Dave.

Niether is the best option. I recommend either the Razer Barracuda or the ASUS Xonar over any Creative/X-fi soundcard. Also, theres no diffrence between PCI/PCI-E, as soundcards don't need that much bandwidth to begin with...
