Hi all, I know you get bombarded with questions about this chip's temps, sorry!

Specs:
Thermaltake M9 MID ATX->front back + two side fans (all 120 mm)
EVGA 750i FTW motherboard
E8400
2GB OCZ Reaper 1066 MHz ram
EVGA 9800 GTX+

I've been wondering about buying a better CPU cooler when my temps are 40-44 C while i surf the net and don't do much. After playing games it goes up around 50 C, Is this high?

Another question...
I've been checking out different hardware monitoring systems (Core Temp, and speedfan)
Speedfan is currently saying my System is at a RIDICULOUS 121C. This HAS to be false, right?

Wow, it reads the same, my MOTHERBOARD is 121 C (250 F!) This can't be normal, can it? Could it be dust build up? I do have a lot of it.

It is possible that you have an E0 stepping E8400, one of the new batch.

And it is possible that you have some kind of bios incompatibility with the E0 cpus.

I had the same issue with my motherboard, until I applied the latest bios update and it sorted the problem.

I know it sounds a tad out-of-the-dark, but it might just be the case.

Update your bios to the latest, and have a look around the EVGA forums.

It wouldn't let me edit, so...

Your temps are actually pretty spot-on. You will find your load temp increases when benching with everest, or a game like crysis, but anything below 65c is actually within normal operating spec for the 45nm intels.

So quit the worryin, start the enjoyin :D

I agree With MrSiko.But if Your not overclocking then they seem a bit high.
My e8400 with Zalman 9800 cooler@3.8Mhz 1.31v in a antec 900 dust collector.

idel=35-40c
load=50-54c
bigger better heat sinks ..um YES

I have the Phoenix Award BIOS v 6.00PG, there's this 'driver detective' that costs money, I did the free scan and it did show it as 'out of date' but, OF COURSE, I need to buy it for the update. I can't find any newer drivers than 6.00 avaliable for download. I'm so lost, I know that my Mobo is not 250 degrees, that's impossible. the air blowing out the back is cool, not even warm. Could it be dust? (I have a lot!)anyways thanks for the help, I'll stop worrying about my CPU temps for now!
