I know that you hate these temperature questions, but I am just curious because I was expecting lower temps than what I have.
I just bought the Asus P5N-D board and threw in a Q8200. I am using a Thermaltake V1 fan which was quite interesting to install, and resulted in me trying it 3 different times. I'm certain that it's on right now, and I made sure that the thermal paste was spread out nicely.
But looking at the temps, it's idling at about 40C with the fan on full, and 45C with it turned down. It doesn't change drastically when under heavy use, and after my last install of the heatsink it's about 5C cooler at idle. But before it would max out at about 50 or maybe 55C under a full load. I haven't done any overclocking, although I planned on it.
Is this normal? I was expecting the temperatures to be a bit cooler using the V1, but I've never owned a quad core and my last CPU was an AMD 5000+ which idled at around 40C on a stock cooler.
Also, there is a difference of about 5C between different cores. Most are 43C-45C, but one is 39C. Does that mean I spread thermal paste wrong, or is it just from different cores being utilized?
Any help on this is appreciated.

You are well within the safe range for that cpu. Is the V1 just a fan or is it also a heatsink? If you are on the stock cooler then those temps are normal. If it is a high end aftermarket then maybe try to improve the case airflow/check to make sure it is mounted correctly.
My Q6600 temps when I had the stock HSF were 40-48C idle and 55-70C under load (g0 stepping).
