I'm looking at upgrading my 3.0ghz Pentium 4 single core to a dual core or something. I just wanted to know if any 775 port dual core processor will work in place of my 775 port 3.0ghz. Just so you know, ill be upgrading a Dell GX280 SFF. Is there any issue i need to worry about other than port size (like motherboard compatibility or something like that.) when picking out a new processor.
And if so, what should I put it in? looking not not exceed, say 150 bucks.

My personal opinion is that system is not worth upgrading.

If you want a dual core, you might try the Pentium Dual Core E2xx0 series.

Your best bet is to contact Dell directly and ask them which processors will work.

oh and i forgot to mention that mine is refurbished to have a 250gb hard-drive, 3gb of ram and I have it running open case with a 400watt corsair PSU and full size 256mb 8600gt.
Would it still not be worth to upgrade? I think its the processor that's holding me back. I can even run counter strike source on full res 1600 by 1050 =[.

You will need to contact Dell or find a list of compatible CPU's with that model. Odds are you cant upgrade.

You could buy a e2180 for $70 and a budget 775 board for $50 and some new 800 ram for $10/G.
