Hi folks, can someone help me with this similar problem. My wifes computer was configured by the comcast guy in the place we just moved to and her computer connects directly through cable modem while mine does not. However we can both connect through the linksys router. When I try to connect directly into the modem I get the limited or no connectivity alert and cannot connect but like i said i can connect through the router. Any help appreciated, thanks.
Are you power cycling the cable modem before connecting it to your computer? Cable modems "remmeber" the MAC address of the first network device they connect and will not connect to any other device until they're power cycled.
Hi Grumpy, thanks for the reply. I did do this but apparently i didnt have the power cable removed for as long as i thought it should have been or the battery inside was playing an issue in it not resetting fully, but it did work. thanks for the reminder and help.
