Hi there,

I have a fairly reasonable computer (p5b asus motherboard, antec tower case etc), and the problem is that I have fans are super loud. Actually, they arent that loud, but loud enough that I want them off. Really I probably dont need them on 90 percent of the time, as I spent most of my time serving the web or doing non-intensive stuff. Can I get them to turn off and then only turn on when necessary, ie when the temperature gets unruly? Does anyone know how to implement this easily with a program or something?

Thanks a lot

Ben

You can go into the bios on the hardware monitor page and use the lowest number to decrease your cpu fan speed. The selection on my board is 1-15. At a 1 setting, the cpu fan runs at about 1500 rpm. My back case fan is controlled by a zalman "fan mate II" rpm adjuster. They cost about $7.
