after hours of research the original plan was to spend £250 on new psu, case and hd 4870 because i got myself a dell vostro 200 silm tower but i found the 9600gt low profile ebay £83 new, but for this card manufactures state 400w psu with 26A on 12V rails and one 6 pin pci-e power connector, think current psu is acbell 250w 17A on +12V rails (came with pc).

i really having trouble searching for psu's that fit in slim cases, i have read some people av got the 9600gt lp working with other silm case models from dell with factory psu with 230w of power so the first question is:

should i buy the 9600gt low profile and try it with my factory psu or not?

if not where on earth do i find a psu that you would recommend, that would fit in my slim case?

is the 9600gt low profile the best gaming card out there, for the people with silm cases, think there is 9800gt coming soon and is there an ATI equivalent in gaming performance terms?

not that I know much about low profile (stares at full towers and mid towers) - but investigate the ati radeon 4830 or 4670, there might be low profile versions, and since they are based on 55nm processes, should consume little power, and since they are less powerful than 4850/70, they should hopefully need less cooling or power. Then again, with a 250w PSU, good luck getting any new gfx cards to work.
