I just installed the ATI 4870 graphics card onto my computer and now i get this continuous beeping noise when i play a graphics intensive computer game. I downloaded the 8.10 driver and set the fan speed to 85% and monitored the heat, but it barely reached 50 degrees, so its not a heat issue.
I seem to be stuck! the card has enough power with a 650w power supply box so i dont think its that.
I'm using an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E7200 @ 2.53GHz with 4gb of RAM , Windows Vista 32bit
Anyone have any ideas as to what could cause it to beep? Game play doesnt seem to be affected when the beeping starts but I've been too scared to stay on for long in case i damage something ><
i just restarted my computer and the beeping happened again for about 3 minutes before finally stopping... Nothing is even running so I'm confused as to why it would start up again ><
Power issue can be caused by poor connection. I've seen loose connections at the PCIe power plug many times. Usually solvable by unplugging/replugging (often several times) to get better contact.
I just took out the card and connectors and placed it all back in and that seems to have done it! I think one of the pci connectors wasn't fully in or something because one of them felt a little loose when i pulled it out.
Takes two Molex connectors, they will only plug into each other one way you can't get it wrong. Then you plug the other end into one of the six pin plugs on the video card.
