The 4870 is still faster. Tiny bit louder and consumes more power, though. I think the IceQ 4 4850 provides plenty of power and value for the price. I just might buy one myself.

UPDATE:
The Sapphire 4870 costs only $235. You might as well get that.

There is an IceQ with a slight OC for $192.

No doubt in my mind - 4870.

If you can find the $$$ for about $30 or so more, get the 4870 1GB

4870 is better.

+1 The 4870 will perform better...but if you are gaming below 1680x1050 then I wouldn't rule out the 4850 for all but the most demanding games at the highest settings. Also with the 4850 I would not bother with a 1gb card if there was much of a price difference. The 512mb should OC better and give you near stock 4870/512mb performance with a good cooler. If you are real adventuresome, there is volt modding for even better results. For the 4870 I would consider paying a little more for the 1gb if you will play at 1680x1050 or above or for new titles that will benefit from higher memory usage.

I will be getting a 22 inch screen, and I think that is 1680 x 1050, so maybe I will get the 4850, but I can't decide which, cause there are so many.

That resolution is big enough for the difference between 4870 and 4850 to be significant. You're better off with 4870. See benchmarks.

4850 crossfire with better cooling and OC beats even 4870X2 ( We are talking about games not benchmarks).
I have 2 sotck sappires in cross runing crysis 1900x1200 ultra high no aa and yes, i get crappy minimums but average is over 35 fps, and tahts with 109C at load, so with oc...

Tested also some other games, like stalker clear sky, Dead space, Fallout 3...
i must admit sometimes it algs, but i really doubts its the Video cards hability not the heat, as i said hits 109C sometimes even on 100% fan speed, so 4870 is a lot better only if u plan to save up cash and crossfire it also... dont forget the power consumption.

Last part to remmber is that stock cooling for both of those is total crap, even with good air flow, so try to get something much better.

Good luck
