Hi everyone, first I'd just like to say this website and forum has been very helpful.

Im building my 2nd gaming pc, it's been about 6 years so heh.. Ive spent the last few days putting it together and finding the best prices etc..

Anyways, this is what I have chosen, if anyone has some input, especially regarding mobo compatability with everyhting else... i'm shady with power supplies as well.

Tell me how it looks!

BFG GeForce GTX 280 Video Card - OC Edition
OCZ Reaper 2 x 2 GB DDR2 1066 mhz
WD Velociraptor 10k RPM 150 GB (just for boot and games)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33 mhz
EVGA 123-YW-E175-A1 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard

And 2 PSU to choose from:
Antec TPQ-850 850W ATX12V / EPS12V
PC Power & Cooling S61EPS 610W Continuous @ 40°C EPS12V

Cooler Master HAF 932

Well my idea was to not have to upgrade for a while...If I were to skimp on something which components could I do that with and not ruin my high settings cod 5 action? :D

If you're planning on not spending for a while I'd go with a q9x50 instead of that E8600 as multi-threaded games are starting to appear now. Maybe change to a GTX260 216 core edition to free up the extra cash for the quad?
Also, I'd avoid the 750i personally and go for a 780/790i, that's if you're set on team green.
Otherwise a x38 or x48 board would be a great choice to pair with a 1Gb HD4870...

Get a Q9x50. Get a GTX260 216 core edition. Get a P45 north bridge chipset mobo. Are you planning on going SLI? I don't think so right? I don't like the idea of thinking you would go SLI later because there might be better GPU's released at the time when you have the budget for another GTX260. A single GTX260 is already enough for max details on most games on a mid-range resolution.

If you want future proof and if you have the budget, get an Intel Core i7.

640 gb WD is much more price friendly. Any idea what they do in RAID? (The cost of the VRaptor is more than 2 640s. . .)

Your processor is short term. If you aren't going to be building for a few years, then a dual core is not the way to go. A quad core is much better long term investment. Q9550 could be much better. Even overclocking a Q6600 quite a bit would be a better solution.

I think 4870x2 would be better or the GTX295.

I don't really know anything about the 750i chipset.

Since you are concerned about the HDD's price, why aren't you concerned about the GPU's price? 4870x2 or GTX295 are two REALLY expensive graphic cards. I don't think it's worth it unless you really want to max everything on the highest resolution. Still.. the price per fps is not so reasonable for me.

since when did the flagships from both nvidia and ati became reasonably priced?
