Hello everyone,

I have a problem and will apprecaite all the help I can get. I beleive I will find an answer to it here.

I have a small network, Linksys WRT350N (Wireless Router) attached to a modem and then wired to a desktop and with 3 laptops wirelessly connected to the router. All 3 are working great and accessing the internet fine.

Presently I have the need to expand the network to 3 upper floors so I bought 3 Linksys Wireless Access Points (WAP4400N).

I have run 3 cat5e cables originating from the router and terminating individually on all 3 floors, the uppermost floor is less than 40meters from the router. With the cables that came in thier boxes I connected the APs to the Router and I have successfully configuring the 3 Access Points with them attached to the Router, all 3 working perfectly (I can access the internet wirelessly via all 3 APs). However when I take the APs to the upper floors and connect the cat5e cables the APs no longer work but connect after a while with the message "Limited Connectivity"

Why can I connect when the APs are connected on the ground floor via the short cables that came in the box and not when connected to the cables laid from ground floor to the upper floors but rather get the message "LIMITED SERVICE" and cannot connect to the internet.

Oh, one more piece of important information: when I connect the cat5e cables on all upper floors direct to a laptop I can connect to the internet ( the cables works fine when connected direct to a laptop) but when connected to the APs connection fails and I start seeing strange IP addresses coming from the APs.

HEPL!!
