Hi guys, I'd like some opinions on if my card is dead or not as I'm considering RMA'ing it.
It worked for an hour or so (it's new) then the computer started freezing up, restarted a few times, eventually wouldn't boot up.
Took computer apart, installed the card on a second mobo, it showed the BIOS screen and then freeze. After a few hours of pulling my hair out and tinkering with it - checking RAM, connections, etc - the computer would switch on, spin up, but the monitor would not come out of standby mode.
After this point, I heard one long beep and 3 short ones, that indicates graphics failure right?
Then I bought a brand spanking new mobo, installed it all very carefully, and it boots up and works perfectly when I put my old 6600GT in there.
When I put my 4830 in there, it does not boot up and the monitor does not come out of standby mode.
Am I right to RMA the card?
Many thanks,
Chris
