Well I heard that with the E8400 The temps are reported incorrectly in the BIOS And i heard to get accurate temps you need to download a program called Real Temp, But im confused, In Core Temp, HW monitor and the BIOS My Temp will say 60 C under Load with Orthos. But Real Temp will say 54 C, So which temp is correct? Real temp shows the temps as being about 5-6 Celsius cooler than my other apps and the bios. im not sure which one is correct and i dont wanna fry the CPU. Specs

Ep45-UD3R motherboard
2 gb ram
E8400
9800GT

thanks in advance.

I trust coretemp. At 100% load those temps sound ok if your using the stock cooler. If your in UK it should be cooler because of the current temperature outside... BRRRRRRrrrr.

My Q6600 o/c to 3.2ghz hits 46 degrees at 100%... 26-30 idle temps.

If your using the stock cooler i recommend swapping it for a arctic cooling freezer pro 7.

if you're going to be overclocking you should absolutely not be using the stock cooler. unfortunately, I can't recommend one that would keep the temperature down enough for overclocking. I'm using an Ultra Copper X-Wind with an Intel C2Q Q9550: it idles around 23C and peaks around 28C I can't say if it would be good for major overclocking, though, as I have only overclocked my processor by a couple hundred Megahertz.

but yes, at 100% or even 75% load, those temperatures are acceptable for the stock cooler.

pent5ht, use RealTemp for Wolfdales because it's the only one that uses the right TJmax, which is 95 C. So Realtemp gives your the Real Temp...
