I'm trying to build a general gaming machine that will well for most games out or coming out soon (i.e. crysis, SC2, Diablo 3). What do you guys think of the GPU? 4850x2, 4870, 4870x2 (expand in future), or NVIDIA card? i'm planning on using a 22in monitor for this system.

Look into GA-EP45-DS3R & PQ5 PRO.

32bit for up to 4 gigs or ram. 64bit for more than 4.

Well, as always the gpu trends are getting to the mainstream way too late, IMO. The R700 (HD 4800) has been out since June. While the average Joe is getting this news, I'm looking forward to the next gen chip from AMD in Q1/09. Possibly Jan. Anything in between from AMD is old news to me.
