Hi there

I just tried to install a new Powercolor HD4850 PCS+ 1Gb on my PC. After boot, as soon as my PC detects the new VGA card it gives me a blue screen and reboots - yes I do login to it, only happens when my system detects the new VGA controller.

What I did:
- Removed old Gfx driver
- PC down
- Remove old Gfx card; Insert new one
- Boot PC
---- I dont get to install NEW drivers

I thought it was my PSU, so I changed it to a new one - problem is the same.

My system doesnt have that much connected:
- 2xHDD (1@40Gb; 1@120Gb)
- 1xDVD rec
- no floppy
- no extra sound card
- 4Gb DDR2 533Mhz
- CPU 3Ghz (Intel 775)
- MB Gigabyte 8i915P DUO rev 1.2 (original BIOS) (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...ProductID=1801)

NEW PSU@550w with proper PCIE feed/6-pin connector

I run a winXP sp3 (full patch) - no "wierd" things in it, pretty much mainstream...

If anyone has any advise on how to proceed I'd much apreciated.

If you need any more info just ask - i'll be around ;)

Sorry..here is my exprience..upon experimenting..

A. go to your computer management via start up menu --->> Right Click My Computer--->>Click Manage--->>>Device Manager--->>Display--->> 4800 Series--->>> Update your Driver..

Do these procedure via On Board Display VGA. While your card is installed.

These problem happened also with my newly bought PowerColor HD4850. But it was only a second problem. My first Problem was two vertical white lines appearing during Start up or boot up and it never disappear.

The Blue Screen display was cleared when I updated the card driver via onboard VGA. But when I entered the desktop it hangs and restarted after few flickering display. It happened because of that two vertical white lines during boot up. My screen is just like wrapped with a white lined net in the desktop..

Do my procedure and let's see if this works on you.
