The computer will mainly be a backup server, where my family and I will just store photos. Also it will be stationed in the living room, where my dad sometimes just likes to surf the web. We would also like to use it for Blue Ray/HD movies sometimes.

What would you guys suggest be a video card card that could also fit in a microatx or cube computer?

Gaming really doesn't matter for this 1 as long as it can just play Cs or CSs the basics, nothing fancy.

thanks!

usually I'd just research it for this basica stuff (actually usually I just go for gaming purposes, but i wanted to get other people's opinion that kno of or had a low profile video card before).

PSU 400 or 430 i can't remember.

Check out AMDs new line of 45xx and 43xx cards. They are half height, handle HD well, and should be enough for what you want.

actually I was looking into the 3450s they are only 40$ what do you think? comes with HDMI. Or the 4550? which is about double. The 4670 is only 20$ more than the 4550.

that should still be good. that card still has the UVD chip which helps alot with HD video.

3xxx doesn't do 8 channel sound over HDMI, 4xxx does.

According to this link however, its only on the 48xx and 46xx cards. I'm not sure if this even matters to you, it doesn't to me. (receiver is to old for this...) Keep looking for benchies between the 3450 and the newer 4xxx cards. If the 3450 is powerful enough to hand CS:S, and does everything else you want, then get that. I personally would try to get the newer 4xxx series, but if the needs are basic enough, it won't matter.

That would be the 4650. 4670 maybe if you can find one on sale. (if you do, PM me as I'm looking for one as well.)
