I have been looking to build a system for a little while now and just recently acquired the means to buy one. I feel that this system should be great, but I'm looking for suggestions before I buy in terms of things that may be incompatible.

So far I have:

Antec 1200 Case
2 LG sata cd/dvd drives
Seagate 640 GB 7200 RPM HDD
Sapphire Radeon 4870 X2
Corsair CMPSU 1kW/modular
8 GB G-Skill DDR2 800 PC2 6400
Asus Rampage Formula
Q9550 quad core
Zalman 110mm CPU cooler

I think this should all work together but I want to make sure. Also, I was hoping to wait for the core i7 and x58 chipset to come out, however I need to order before the end of the month and I doubt the new intel stock will be out by then. Anywho, if any of you see anything wrong or anything that I could switch out that would make more sense or be better in your opinions, feel free to post.

Thanks again,

Ausmus

If you really need the 1000W PSU, buy.com has a pretty good price on it right now.

Corsair CMPSU-1000HX ATX12V &EPS12V Power Supply - CMPSU-1000HX
http://www.buy.com/prod/corsair-10 [...] 10101.html $220.49 -$20.00 MIR

If you aren't looking to add another 4870x2 anytime soon, you could go with the 750TX for $84 shipped:

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Retail
http://www.buy.com/prod/corsair-tx [...] 78325.html $103.74 -$20.00 MIR

I would also swap the HD for the WD 6400AAKS.

I think the Xigmatek CPU cooler cools better and is quieter than the Zalman. This is even coming from a Zalman CPU cooler owner. :)

Your original list of parts will work together. I'd go with the above suggestions.

There's a major problem with Nehalem right now - DDR3 can't be higher than 1.65v or kiss the cpu goodbye. Performance ram will always use more than stock voltage. If Deneb, out in 01/09, lives up to the hype of 4.3Ghz on air, I'm gonna be deflecting back to AMD. All it needs is DDR2 & SB750 mobo (cheap). I'm eagerly waiting for real-world overclocks at XS.
