Hi,

Here is my setup.

CPU - 2.4Ghz Intel Q6600 Quad Core
MoBo - Asus P5K SE
Video Card - Nvidia 9600GT
RAM - 2 GB Kingston DDR2 (Dual Channel)
Hec Raptor 500W PSU
Monitor - AOC 19" LCD
DVD/CD-Drive - Philips Lightscribe

I use my computer only on weekends and I leave it overnight to download stuff.
I also use AI Gear to switch to maximum savings (I think it lowers the voltage of the CPU and fan so it would not consume that much energy). So I left it overnight and when I woke up in the morning, my system just hanged. So I hit the reset button and when POST came up it says overclocking failed. Tried to reboot same thing. So I took out the battery and cleared RTC. Then it worked and booted XP. I scheduled chkdsk on next boot but the system hanged when checking free disk space. Reset my system now system says primary hard disk failed. Reinstalled SATA cable then worked fine.

Left it again to download overnight then same thing happened. (did not use AI gear this time). Reset my system now no display on monitor and no beeps. Tried 3 reboots same thing. Resorted to clearing RTC again and removing battery. System works again.

Can you help me please to know what maybe the problem of my computer? Is it the MoBo giving up?

Many thanks!

I would start by changing the battery.

Tried virus scan. Malware not yet but yes I will try that.
