Ok, so i just bought a new computer, put it together, however, now i can't get the darn thing to work properly.
When i turn it on i get 4 red Leds on the mainboard. But when i press the onboard, Reset button, it fires up as it should, what do i do?
=============== System Specs===============
Mainboard: MSI P45 Platinum
unplug power cord, clear cmos for 10 min - 1 hr, try each ram stick in each slot, power on, load bios default & up ddr2 voltage a notch, power off, unplug power cord, install the other stick.
@OP: You will likely need to increase RAM voltage. Those DIMMs run at 2.1v and your motherboard only provides 8v by default. Not to mention you are running 4 DIMMS. You will probably need to run your RAM at 2.2-2.3v.
Try this:
With 2*2GB in the system go to BIOS and increase voltage to 2.2v. Then save exit.
Put in the rest of the 2*2GB and boot. Download and run Memtest86+ just to be safe.
Proximon - Sorry for the ill discription. It boots when i press the chasis reboot button, however, that results in a boot with all 4 red leds lighting and no efficient boot until i press and hold the reset button on the MB.
Havent tried to clear CMOS for that long, will try that . I have however tried to use only 1 stick of RAM at a time.
Will try to ajust voltage in BIOS. If you have ane step by step manual on this it will be much appreciated, if not, i just have to use the extra time to make sure that what i do is right ;-D
auscanzukus - I almost want to kiss you. After clearing CMOS for over 10 min. it starts....well almost. It now gives a lesser serious failure signal.
Red, Red, Green, Red.
I think its now down to the Rams.
So, tomorrow, im gonna look through the BIOS for ram voltage. Once again, if any of you have a guide, or are willing to make one for this, it would be GREATLY apprecieted.
BTW, When i had it in Windows, it only read 3 gigs of ram, why is that, and how to fix that deal?
