So about a month ago I put a new rig together and part of this rig was the Asus Maximus II Formula MB. For about a week it all worked fine I set up my two 500gb SATA hard drives with RAID striping to makes things run smoother.

But for some reason the MB BIOS became corrupted and had to RMA it. But when I got my replacement MB the exact same thing happened to it, and after I did some research on some forums I noticed that a lot of people were having the same or similar problems with this model of MB. :(

So here is my problem, rather than buy another MB of the same model and risk the same problems I was just going to get a different one entirely. But what I want to know is, if I get a MB with same chipset and RAID controller like for example the Gigabyte GA-EP45-EXTREME. Would it detect my RAID setup? How would I go about replacing the drivers from the old MB with new ones?

And another thing is, on the Gigabyte GA-EP45-EXTREME it says it only supports my CPU (which is an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400)
from BIOS version F4. If that is so does that mean until I can install the newer BIOS version that my CPU won't work? And how would I go about doing that?

If anyone has any advice on these problems or if you can tell some other problems that I might run into I would greatly appreciate it :)

Going from an Intel chipset to another one is not an issue as long as enough SATA ports are available on the new motherboard.

You'd have to be very unlucky if you received a motherboard with the F4 BIOS. At a minimum should should expect F7 or F8 dated September 2008.

Thats good to hear, I really didn't want to risk it with the same MB over again, thanks. :)
