After changing hard drive with OS already on, i get black screen.

On a compaq D150, i installed a different hard drive (same model to the won previously installed). The hard drive already had an OS already installed (windows xp). After, switching on the computer, i found that it displayed a black screen. I attempted using windows xp repair install to fix the problem but to no avail.

why did you trade the hard drive? what was wrong with the original drive? did you have a black screen before you changed the drive?

I changed the hardware because i wanted to use the removed HDD for extra storage purposes on my main desktop. It was working fine. No black screen, just fine.

By the way, the problem has almost been fixed. After realising my optical drive was faulty, i changed it and used this site
