Dell A920 All in One Printer driver

Last response: in Windows XP

Hope someone out there can help.

My brother bought a used Dell A920 AIO printer recently. We've tried to download the drivers from Dell directly but every time he tries to run the application, he gets this error message.

Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files.
Contact application vendor for assistance.

I couldn't find another source for a driver download so don't know if maybe we can fix this or if someone knows of another source.

Thanks!!

how about downloading "dell installation manager" first and save to desktop? shut off the anti virus and possibly the firewall, if you have multiple security devices installed, you will need to shut them all off.
now run the install manager, restart the computer
now install your driver from the dell website, it should install as long as the security remains off.
now restart the computer and turn the security back on.

Ok so I tried all that and no dice. :(

For an $8 used printer I'm beginning to wonder if this is even worth it lol. Thanks for that info Soundguruman.

Any other ideas anyone?

If you did the repair install, turned off the security, and the driver still won't load, I would suspect that there is a hardware failure.
Did you visit dell and install all recent updates? Including firmware updates?
Sorry we could not get that going.

Yea I think the printer was more a headache than anything so I just gave him one fo mine instead and it was quick and easy. BTW, I did go to Dell and install all the updates I could but still got nothing. Oh well, it was only 8 bucks :) .

Thanks again for your efforts Soundguruman.

Did anyone see the version text document in the default file location after you unzip the Driver.

I found my old A920 and originally hooked it up to the front on my pretty new Windows 7 HP computer. It didn't recognize it. But then I uninstalled the driver, removed the printer from my computer then restarted. Once rebooted, I plug the USB into the back of my tower where a printer would normally be plugged in. My computer recognized it, and installed the correct driver. Works perfectly now! :)
