Please help me out. I have a Asus striker Extream motherboard (PCI Express 1.0) & i am going to buy a XFX 260 XXX Edition card (PCI Express 2.0). Will it work without a problem? My PSU is ASUS 550watt
If your power supply has enough amps on the 12V rail and 2 6-pin connectors then yes. The motherboard is not the issue. PCI Express 1.0 just means less bandwidth so it will take the card, but not maximize its potential (you wont see that much of a difference anyway).
Remember ASUS is not a PSU manufacturer until recently so be weary.
Thanks a lot man. It has two 6 -pin connectors. WHat i do not understand is "enough amps on the 12v rail". By the way i also have a Ageia PhysX Physics Card & after getting this card should i keep it or remove it since geforce 260 has physX if i am not mistaken.
keep it and dedicate for physics. that's is what i did with my 9600sgo and noticed 5-10fps improvement in ut3 physic maps. all cards within 8series and up with 256mb+ supports physics.
