i have a question regarding fsb and ram speed.

so i am running an e5300 at 10x400(fsb), this puts my ddr2-800 at a 1:1 ratio

i have found out i can reach my ram to speeds of 930 and still keep the 4-4-4-12 timings, so my question is...can i let this run at like 9x465? will my computer run better due to the faster ram?

i also heard i could get 3-3-3-8 on my ram at 800mhz, if thats possible, would that be better than the increased speed?

thanks!

Yes, your computer will run better due to faster ram... if you can keep the heat down and retain stability. You'll have to increase the speed incrementally, then run stability tests and check the temps to see if the computer's still operating properly.

As for ram timings, you really should use what's entirely compatible with your mobo. In other words, if your mobo is designed to run 4-4-4-12 timings, then use ram with that.

Yes. Going from 4-4-4-12 to 3-3-3-8 will get you an increase of memory i/o of around 3%, as measured by a good memory benchmark - if it will run. Unfortunately, that 3% increase in memory i/o has an unnoticeable effect on overall system performance.
