File system error file record corrupted

Acronis 10 Disk Director indicates that my 180GB+ hard drive is no longer working, with the message
File System Error: File Record Corrupted

CHKDSK comes back with
The type of the file system is NTFS.
Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted.

Anybody with some direction?

Type "chkdsk X: /f" no quotes and replace X with whatever drive it is.

If that doesn't work try Partition recovery software.
