I have just pulled my old system out of storage after a few years, and the cmos battery was dead and the bios has reset. One of the memory sticks was bad, but, after pulling it, the system boots fine. Unfortunately, I do not remember what processor is in the system, or what the memory should be set to.

I have the bios set to auto, and right now, when I right click on My computer and click properties, it shows "Unknown CPU type", 1.30 GHz. I would rather not pull the cpu fan and physically look at the processor. Is there anything that will tell me what I should set the processor to? The computer seems to be running slow, and I think I can get more out of it.

I have downloaded Auslogics system information, but it just shows unknown CPU type.

Thanks for any help.

You could try downloading CPU-Z. That would also give you RAM settings, under the SPD tab.

If your system is saying unknown CPU, the 1.3Ghz probably doesn't mean anything either... so I really have nothing further to say.

Some indication of your MB and RAM types would help.
