I wondered if I should post this inside LIQUIDs' thread but the results are so interesting I decided to start a new one instead.
I just wish W1zzard would update their benchmark suite to include a few more up-to-date games!

PS. Hope nobody beat me to this one!

hmm, that test suite was far better than most, plenty of up-to date games in their plus many that should be.

Sometimes newer does not always equal better for benchmarking. Still, the call of jurez benchmark is off, must be using dx9 which is pointless to get those results, same with company of heroes, does everyone else get those sort of fps, i don't.

It's interesting how the 4850X2 beats the 4870X2 in several games.

why is the performance so close and sometimes beats the 4870 X2? What is up with these benchies:S

the 280 GTX comes out on top of both cards in alot of the games ....that makes no sense.

The 4870 X2 is 30% faster than the 280 GTX...its only show 6% lower than the x2..now I kno this benchmark is flawed...the 4850 X2 comes out over the 4870 X2 even (1920x1200)... what the heck is going on here?!?!?!?

I'd say we wait for more reviews.

I don't like this part:

Quote :

The card is the longest video card we ever had in our labs. With a total length of 28.5 cm it is even longer than the HD 4870 X2 (left) and the GeForce GTX 280 (right)

I wish somebody put together a list of cases that can fit this monster. About two years ago the 8800GTX was the longest card around and lots of people got burnt - they bought it and then realized it wouldn't fit.

How can the 4850 version be longer than the 4870 version of the X2? That makes no sense, did that guy/site even review the 4870X2? They would at least be the SAME length.

Also, could the benchmarks mean that the scailing is more perfected on teh 4850 than it is on the 4870?

You are right I am a little confused as to the length, actual performance and so on, but FCUK it, Dude Obama won. :D

It doesn't really perplex me...

Well, congratulations for Obama then! Now let's see him fix this mess. It won't be easy...

The new card looks very promising. I just wish they made it with 2 DVI outputs and a vent instead of 4 DVI outputs. How many people actually use 3 or 4 monitors? Even for those people, they could just hook up monitors #3 and #4 to a cheap HD 3450. Hopefully the reviewer guessed wrong and Sapphire won't be the only manufacturer.

Sapphire the only manufacturer? Lol? Where the hell are these reviewers getting their info? If thats true, at the $420 price tag, this card will dissapear faster than the 7950GX2.

seriously a vent, so hot air can outside the case is good idea, I wish they would try harder to at least stay with that sapecification

I've always took techpowerup's reviews as bs. There have always been people wondering how they get the scores they do, and why some cards that are way more powerful, are getting beaten by weak cards. The FPS is also ridiculous. I have an extremely similar setup as theirs, running the game at 1680x1050 4xAA 16xAF, 4GB DDR2-800, E8400 @ 3.6Ghz and an HD4870... but I'm not getting anywhere near 257FPS. I usually get around 80-150.

Wait until some more review come out to judge it.

Agreed. You might get fewer fps than them for legitimate reasons but the difference wouldn't be that big. For example if they stopped all Windows services and defragmented the hard drives and have a very clean and small Windows registry and so on they may have a slight advantage, but nothing near 100fps difference.

Its like Ive been saying for awhile, the 4850 benches they did, at 12x10, they use 2xAA, but at higher res, they up the AA. Makes no sense. Hes doing something different, maybe just to be different?
